Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think toxic heavy metals can be present in both cooked and raw fish. I hear that shrimp is less toxic so if the restaurant uses saewoo jeot (really small salted shrimp) to make the kimchi it might be an option for you.

I've also heard that seawood soup is good for pregnant women. My mom says in Korea they used to give it to women as the first meal after they give birth to fortify the body. She makes if for our birthdays to commemorate the event :)

As for the tea, does it have a smokey taste? Often restaurants serve bori cha (roasted barley) and oksusu cha (roasted corn) teas. Both can be served hot or cold depending on the season. Its a pain to make it at home tho. During the summer I make it and stick in the fridge but since its so good I drink it way too fast lol.

yeah.. you don't have to put raw shellfish in your kimchi. i don't. i'm a vegetarian, so i leave out fish sauce and stuff & my kimchi still turns out very good, just like homemade kimchi from korea!

Hello guys

I wonder if pregnant women could eat Kimchi because some of them contain raw oysters.

Also what is the cold herbal tea that Korean people always drink in restaurants or at home? How to make it please?

Many thanks and have a wonderful day!

:-D
