Hello everybody!

Recently CJ Foods contacted me and offered to send me some Korean ingredients as a way of saying “thank you” for spreading Korean culture and cuisine. It was very kind of them to offer, but after talking to them some more, we decided it would be more fun to set up this giveaway for my readers. This is CJ’s way of encouraging you to cook Korean food, because they know that not everyone can find Korean ingredients easily.

So, leave a comment on this post, and you’ll be entered to win a Korean cooking startup kit from CJ.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZVGqgp5RZM

Please leave only one comment below, and then there will be 20 winners chosen at random by random.org. This contest is open to anyone in the world. Wherever you live, if you win then CJ will deliver this startup kit to your house.

Korean cooking startup kit

Korean cooking startup kit

The contest will close at midnight (New York time), December 15th and I’ll contact the winners through email. The winners need to answer me in 5 days, and if anyone doesn’t answer in time I’ll have to pick the next winner. So please, when you register for my website to leave a comment, make sure you use a current email! And be sure to check your email around that time!

The other cool thing about this startup kit is that a lot of the products in it are from CJ’s new Bibigo brand, which you’ll soon be able to buy outside of Korean grocery stores in the USA. I asked CJ about this, and they said Bibigo is just a new brand name for their Haechandle brand, which I have been using for decades and you may have seen in my ingredients section.

So, good luck to you! I hope you win!

Update Dec 23, 2011 – The contest is now closed, and the winners have been announced. Thank you for entering!

Yay! I’m so glad you’re doing something you’ve always dreamed of doing. I learned how to make kim chi from watching you, and everything I’ve made from watching your videos has been a success. My teenaged daughter is now a bona fide ddukbokki fan and it’s thanks to your recipe! Thanks for sharing all your videos and making Korean cooking a part of our lives that we now can’t do without!!

Oh maangchi, you just totally made my day!
Here, in Portugal, is so difficult to find those ingredients! I haven’t found the Korean store mentioned in your site, but I will soon. Everytime I try some korean recipe, it’s already difficult because I’m vegetarian, so it’s even more difficult when it turns out that half of the ingredients I absolutely don’t have :( I don’t really have much luck on my side though, but well, I won’t lose anything to try, right?
Anyway, I must say congratulations for your cooking show, I’m a big fan of it! Actually, I’m so so so excited and anxious to see the result of Maangchi Gapshida that I’m silently praying for you to come back soon, hehe.
Thank you very much maangchi, without you there was no way I could eat some really good Korean food :D

My beautiful fiancée and I love to make Korean food all the time! Just today, we made soybean sprouts banchan and mak kimchi. This would be such a wonderful gift for the holidays for her — what a great surprise, right? She would love the “start-up” kit, even though she is hardly just starting up her Korean cooking adventures!

My son-in-law is stationed in Korea. When he was home on leave, he told me about all the various foods he was enjoying. My daughter just returned from visiting him in Korea and asked me to make a certain food, hoddeok, so it is apparent I need to get busy and learn to cook Korean. It would be a real treat to get a starter kit or I will be spending a lot of money buying all manner of things I do not know how to use. I am hoping to be reasonably proficient by the time my son-in-law returns in May.

I always watch your videos on youtube and your website but the ingredients are hard to come by in my home country. I love the spicy side of Korean cooking and, now I am home for good, I hope to try to cook some for my family who never tried any. I ate Korean whenever I could when I was studying in Australia!
