Hello everybody!

Recently CJ Foods contacted me and offered to send me some Korean ingredients as a way of saying “thank you” for spreading Korean culture and cuisine. It was very kind of them to offer, but after talking to them some more, we decided it would be more fun to set up this giveaway for my readers. This is CJ’s way of encouraging you to cook Korean food, because they know that not everyone can find Korean ingredients easily.

So, leave a comment on this post, and you’ll be entered to win a Korean cooking startup kit from CJ.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZVGqgp5RZM

Please leave only one comment below, and then there will be 20 winners chosen at random by random.org. This contest is open to anyone in the world. Wherever you live, if you win then CJ will deliver this startup kit to your house.

Korean cooking startup kit

Korean cooking startup kit

The contest will close at midnight (New York time), December 15th and I’ll contact the winners through email. The winners need to answer me in 5 days, and if anyone doesn’t answer in time I’ll have to pick the next winner. So please, when you register for my website to leave a comment, make sure you use a current email! And be sure to check your email around that time!

The other cool thing about this startup kit is that a lot of the products in it are from CJ’s new Bibigo brand, which you’ll soon be able to buy outside of Korean grocery stores in the USA. I asked CJ about this, and they said Bibigo is just a new brand name for their Haechandle brand, which I have been using for decades and you may have seen in my ingredients section.

So, good luck to you! I hope you win!

Update Dec 23, 2011 – The contest is now closed, and the winners have been announced. Thank you for entering!

Thank you for your website, Maangchi! I spent a year in Korea teaching English 5 years ago and I learned to love Korean food. When I came home I did a lot of Korean cooking for a while but it gradually dropped away. I’m now pregnant and this past week I started craving Korean food! I looked up some simple recipes and found your blog. I would love to win this package!
    Good luck and keep going!

  4. Dear Maangchi, ♥ ♥ ♥

there is this wonderful, cute and cozy Korean snack bar across the Bonn university here in Germany that attracted me instantly. It is run by a Korean family, serving Jobchae, sushi, Bibimbap and other yummy Korean dishes. I love their food so much, I am driving back to Bonn 70km every weekend to eat their food.

I was searching for a Jobchae recipe and bumped into your website and I fell in love with you and your dishes. No misunderstandings… it’s the way you talk and how you present your wonderful cooking, that I fell in love with you. :P

    Dear Mangchi,
I really hope to be your lucky winner and win your starter kit, so I will keep my fingers crossed from now on. Should I not win, I would still support you and watch your videos, so keep up the good work Maangchi. ♥ ♥ ♥

    Hi Maangchi,
I’ve been visiting your website regularly, and I’ve tried many of your recipes. Sadly I live in Bulgaria where Korean grocery stores do not exist and I have had difficulties with the recipes that do need special ingredients.

    Looking forward to the results.

Hello, Maangchi, i went to Korea on march this year for 5 days, we ate Korean food especially kimchi everyday, I love it very much and after I came back to hong kong, I bought the kimchi from the supermarket frequently. However, when I search the details about kimchi, I know all the Achuma can make the kimchi and it is much tasty, therefore I search on YouTube and found your video, it help me a lot, the video is very detail and simple, love it:) thanks a lot.

    Great Idea Maagchi!

I got so inspired by your cooking and the cooking from my good friend in Korea Gunsoo Lim.
He helped me to find you.

I now grow Korean herbs in the Netherlands, to be able to taste the Korean culture, and I love it My neighbers ask me for the herbs that I grow, and I share that with them, they all love it. Most of them have tasted Kimchi, sesame leaf and Ssam.
So strange that our country has Chinese, Indian and Surinam food, and no Korean food.
I would love to have the starter kit, to be able to taste the full range of herbs and wonderfull flavours.
Lets bring Korean food to all countries !

Thanks for the initiative and learning us how to make great Korean food!

    With best regards,

    Bart J. Meijer,
    Netherlands
