I’ve been wanting patjuk for weeks, maybe because it’s winter solstice? It’s a healthy porridge with protein-packed red beans. Koreans eat it on winter solstice, the shortest day and longest night of the year. The white rice cake balls symbolize new life and prosperity. They represent longer days ahead. Red porridge is believed to ward off evil spirits, bringing good luck for the new year.
Check out the recipe here. It’s so easy to make!
