Recently CJ Foods contacted me and offered to send me some Korean ingredients as a way of saying “thank you” for spreading Korean culture and cuisine. It was very kind of them to offer, but after talking to them some more, we decided it would be more fun to set up this giveaway for my readers. This is CJ’s way of encouraging you to cook Korean food, because they know that not everyone can find Korean ingredients easily.
So, leave a comment on this post, and you’ll be entered to win a Korean cooking startup kit from CJ.
Please leave only one comment below, and then there will be 20 winners chosen at random by random.org. This contest is open to anyone in the world. Wherever you live, if you win then CJ will deliver this startup kit to your house.
The contest will close at midnight (New York time), December 15th and I’ll contact the winners through email. The other cool thing about this startup kit is that a lot of the products in it are from CJ’s new Bibigo brand, which you’ll soon be able to buy outside of Korean grocery stores in the USA. I asked CJ about this, and they said Bibigo is just a new brand name for their Haechandle brand, which I have been using for decades and you may have seen in my ingredients section.

Hi Maangchi,,,,, if I only knew that you visited the Phils. I would have gone to Manila to see you personally,,, I’ve been a fan of yours,, Your style of cooking is really awesome. You really can transform a difficult cuisine to a much easier way so that people can follow it easily.. I love to cook and especially eat “bulgogi”,,, and because I super loved it and I even introduced it to many people. Actually it’s not only bulgogi that I introduce but the Korean food itself,,
I live in the town where in people are old fashion about food, they only eat the food they grow up with. But with my interest in korean food, they now know what kimchee is or how does a kimbap taste, how tasteful a mandu is, and esp. how delicioius a bulgogi is…
I even make my kimchee as a small business… I take orders, in this way “kimchee” is becoming more popular not only in Korean dramas but also penetrating the small areas, where in some people become more knowledgeable about korean food esp. “kimchee”
But sometimes my problem is finding a good quality “hot pepper flakes”…. I always use the local chilli powder but my problem is the color of my kimchee is so dull :-(,,, It’s so hard to find a korean products esp. ingredients here in my place.,, though there’s a lot of korean noodles in every international food section….

Hello Maangchi, first of all, thank you for creating your Web site with all amazing recipes. We love Korean cousin and we use to go out very often for delicious meal. My husband is in military and we live in Germany now. Unfortunately, we have no Korean restaurant or Asian groceries store within 200km. In addition, I cant find any oriental groceries store online which would ship to our APO address. Honestly, I’m craving for some 잡채, 닭강정, 감자탕, … and many many more dishes for quiet some time now. It would be great to get a kit for our favorite dishes. Thank you for what you do!!!

Hi Maangchi, the first time i making a kimchi just follow your receipe it was so succesful, i share this kimchi with my friend everybody like it and they ask me to teach them. After that i try other receipe in your website such as “Mopo Tofu” “Dakkjim” the chicken dish, my husband like it very much. I am sure i will share this website to all my friends . Hi Maangchi! I love watching Korean dramas since the past 10 years and I am an avid fan of Two Day One Night . I never missed watching 2DIN every weekend where the hosts travels around Korea and often promoting the local food for each region. Since then, I always wanted to taste this unique flavor of Korean food although it is kind of hard to find the ingredients in Malaysia. For other people, it maybe convenient for them to dine Korean food. However as a Muslim, it maybe hard to find halal Korean food so I would need to cook Korean dish on my own. Thanks a lot to Maangchi for making it possible for me to cook great Korean dishes by sharing your great recipes and videos.
My first Korean dish is making bulgogi for my dad’s birthday celebration. My family loves it It was all because everyone can gather around the table and grill the beef and have fun. Since then every time we have family gathering, I would use your bulgogi marinade in my cooking, such as marinade for roasted chicken etc and everyone keeps asking for the recipe. Adding pears into the marinate is superb, it adds the sweetness to the meat. Since then whenever I feel like eating Korean food, I will always look for recipe from your site but I’m limited to simple recipe because I can’t find gochujang, bean paste, rice cake just yet at our local grocer. I will try to do some food hunt on Korean ingredient whenever I visit any international grocery mart.
