Recently CJ Foods contacted me and offered to send me some Korean ingredients as a way of saying “thank you” for spreading Korean culture and cuisine. It was very kind of them to offer, but after talking to them some more, we decided it would be more fun to set up this giveaway for my readers. This is CJ’s way of encouraging you to cook Korean food, because they know that not everyone can find Korean ingredients easily.
So, leave a comment on this post, and you’ll be entered to win a Korean cooking startup kit from CJ.
Please leave only one comment below, and then there will be 20 winners chosen at random by random.org. This contest is open to anyone in the world. Wherever you live, if you win then CJ will deliver this startup kit to your house.
The contest will close at midnight (New York time), December 15th and I’ll contact the winners through email. The winners need to answer me in 5 days, and if anyone doesn’t answer in time I’ll have to pick the next winner. The other cool thing about this startup kit is that a lot of the products in it are from CJ’s new Bibigo brand, which you’ll soon be able to buy outside of Korean grocery stores in the USA. I asked CJ about this, and they said Bibigo is just a new brand name for their Haechandle brand, which I have been using for decades and you may have seen in my ingredients section.

there are so many Korean restaurants around, and i just love them! im so gonna learn how to make them, so i dont have to go out every time when im craving for korean food! lol

Even though the nearest market that sells Korean ingredients is 50miles away I go every month and try to make all the dishes that you prepare on your videos! You inspired me and I Love Ya !!!

Thank you so much for sharing with all of us your wonderful recipes! Since I was a child I have been dining regularly at an authentic Korean / Japanese restaurant near my home but have never been able to find the recipes the way they make it there. I have tried so many different ones but was never pleased with them until I tried yours! Your recipes are delicious and I share your site with all my friends! I am hosting a Korean dinner at my house this weekend and am using a bunch of your yummy recipes – I can’t wait! I look forward to trying out more of your wonderful dishes!
My mom’s best friend when I was young (like 4) was from Korea. I was a picky eater when I was little but I always loved Kim SO MUCH that I would eat whatever she poked down my little mouth – even kimchi! I shop at Super H Mart here in GA and I love it when I pick something up that has been prepared by they ladies there and then I can recreate it from your recipes here. It’s fantastic and a LOT easier than trying just to read and digest with no videos or pictures. Thank you for taking the time to help those of us who love Korean food but have no Korean moms or grandmoms to teach us how to cook properly. Love, love, love your site! I would wish that you would be on food network but I think they would screw the whole vibe of your website up!

Since I am currently living in a very rural part of Germany, finding Korean ingredients is definitely a huge challenge. I’ve only been used to CJ as a film company. When I saw their brand of microwaveable rice at the Korean grocery store, I was a bit stunned. It’s as if Warner Bros. bread or Disney cheese existed. Regardless, I was happy with their rice and look forward to winning their cooking kit…hint hint.

Hello Maangchi, This website is beyond my favorite website. I’m on it everyday, even at work so I could prepare what to buy after work and go home to cook for my husband. I’m actually a newlywed (really) early in my 20s who JUST started to cook korean food about 2 months ago only now that I have the responsibilities to feed my hubby. You have no idea how much I’ve learned so much from your site:] Living where I live, I have to drive an hour plus just to go to the Korean store (which I cannot drive to without my husband, I’ll get lost in a hearbeat even with a gps haha). I’ve been following your Youtube channel for a while now. It’s been so very helpful to me! I’m a student at Kyungbook National University in Daegu. I’m from the USA though. I will go home in December, and return to Korea again next August. My mother is unable to fly and visit me, so when I come home I try to share with her the Korean experience as best I can by cooking recipes you have shown here on your website. It is my fourth time in Korea, and every time before I go I try to cook her Korean meals. It’s hard for me to find ingredients though in the Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA where I live. It’s a small country place, so there’s very little there in the way of Asian food. I hope to win the contest and show my mother real Korean ingredients and cook her some of my favorite dishes from Korea! ^_^ Many of those dishes you have featured here and I know she would love to try them. So I hope to win those ingredients for my home in the USA!!
