Hello everybody!
Recently CJ Foods contacted me and offered to send me some Korean ingredients as a way of saying “thank you” for spreading Korean culture and cuisine. It was very kind of them to offer, but after talking to them some more, we decided it would be more fun to set up this giveaway for my readers. This is CJ’s way of encouraging you to cook Korean food, because they know that not everyone can find Korean ingredients easily.
So, leave a comment on this post, and you’ll be entered to win a Korean cooking startup kit from CJ.
Please leave only one comment below, and then there will be 20 winners chosen at random by random.org. This contest is open to anyone in the world. Wherever you live, if you win then CJ will deliver this startup kit to your house.
The contest will close at midnight (New York time), December 15th and I’ll contact the winners through email. The winners need to answer me in 5 days, and if anyone doesn’t answer in time I’ll have to pick the next winner. So please, when you register for my website to leave a comment, make sure you use a current email! And be sure to check your email around that time!
The other cool thing about this startup kit is that a lot of the products in it are from CJ’s new Bibigo brand, which you’ll soon be able to buy outside of Korean grocery stores in the USA. I asked CJ about this, and they said Bibigo is just a new brand name for their Haechandle brand, which I have been using for decades and you may have seen in my ingredients section.
So, good luck to you! I hope you win!
Update Dec 23, 2011 – The contest is now closed, and the winners have been announced. Thank you for entering!

Love your website!! I love trying new recipes :)
Hi! Me and my daughter both love Korea and try to learn more about Korea and Koreans. We started to study Korean language. I’d like to learn how to cook Korean food. It is a pity but we don’t have shops with Korean ingredients in our country so we hope to become winners :)
Oh wow! I love Korean food! It’s super fun experimenting with all the different types of sauces!
you are the best! saranghaeyo!
I love Jap Chae. First time i tasted it I wanted more. Moved to South Cali a friend of mine invited me for dinner in this lovely Korean restaurant, there I tasted it again and it was so gooooodddd. Love your video compare with the other videos I’ve seen. More power to you and more video(s) to come..
Hello! I am Korean and came to the states when i was 3 years old and my korean is not the best but I know my korean food because I was raised with my Grandmothers cooking,
She was the best and made everything from scratch and done within minutes! Well She is now 98 years old and a couple of years ago she started loosing her sight and taste and is getting worst. I got married 5 years ago and have a 4 year old daughter, The thing is my husband is also korean and was raised in korea till he was a teenager and only perfers korean food and i really wanted to cook for him and my daughter korean food, so i attempted to learn from my grandmother but she says she eyeballs everything and there are no recipe for anything or she says little of this and that .. So i looked for cooking books and everything was in korean (I can’t read korean) Anyway Thank god I found You!! I’m very picky and your recipes are like my grandmothers! Very athentic and I love that you take pride in our culture… especially the old style korean pots and extra dang-jang not scared how people will react to the smell or taste “YOU TEACH IT THE WAY ITS SUPPOSE TO BE,” the way you cook! No fancy gimmics or a show! Thank you for teaching me our culture to my daughter. We now can have that same bond my grandmother and I had.

Maangchi! I just came back from a week vacation to Seoul and now I am missing the food soooo much!!!
I’ve been watching your YouTube videos for awhile, but never joined your website. I’ve made PLENTY of your videos at home with much success.
I actually found a Korean market in my small little town here that I didn’t know was here. I was elated, and purchased many of the items you’ve recommended in your videos. Thanks for being such inspiration to me, and help me improve on my ethnic cooking I otherwise would of never attempted on my own.
I’m SO happy to hear you are getting the much due respect from the cooking community. You deserve it. I would love to see FoodNetwork knock on your door. lol
Thanks Again!
This is such a cool idea, you’re so generous to your viewers. I found this site while living in Korea and now I’m recommending it to my friend from England who is living there. It’s great for him to learn how to use local ingredients and it’s in English and the measurements are in units we can recognize. Not to mention the very helpful video!!

Hi Maangchi! I’ve been a silent fan of yours for a while now, but I signed up for your site only now. I grew up eating Korean food in the Philippines, especially kimchi, even though my family’s not Korean in any way. When I was looking for recipes to make my own kimchi a couple of years ago, I found your recipes and have been using them ever since! They’ve been such a great help that I’ve shared them to friends who asked for it. Thanks a lot!

I love eating cultural food, and ever since I tried kimbap with kimchi by accident (because I thought it was sushi at a culture festival) I’ve been hooked on Korean food~! I’m really into Korean pop music and dance, so Korean food has always been something I wanted to try. I’m glad to have been able try many thinks. I love your recipes and when I get a chance to go to a Korean market, I pick up a lot of ingredients to make several of your dishes. 감사합니다 ^___^
