Hello everybody!
Recently CJ Foods contacted me and offered to send me some Korean ingredients as a way of saying “thank you” for spreading Korean culture and cuisine. It was very kind of them to offer, but after talking to them some more, we decided it would be more fun to set up this giveaway for my readers. This is CJ’s way of encouraging you to cook Korean food, because they know that not everyone can find Korean ingredients easily.
So, leave a comment on this post, and you’ll be entered to win a Korean cooking startup kit from CJ.
Please leave only one comment below, and then there will be 20 winners chosen at random by random.org. This contest is open to anyone in the world. Wherever you live, if you win then CJ will deliver this startup kit to your house.
The contest will close at midnight (New York time), December 15th and I’ll contact the winners through email. The winners need to answer me in 5 days, and if anyone doesn’t answer in time I’ll have to pick the next winner. So please, when you register for my website to leave a comment, make sure you use a current email! And be sure to check your email around that time!
The other cool thing about this startup kit is that a lot of the products in it are from CJ’s new Bibigo brand, which you’ll soon be able to buy outside of Korean grocery stores in the USA. I asked CJ about this, and they said Bibigo is just a new brand name for their Haechandle brand, which I have been using for decades and you may have seen in my ingredients section.
So, good luck to you! I hope you win!
Update Dec 23, 2011 – The contest is now closed, and the winners have been announced. Thank you for entering!

Very very nice gift :) Thank you so much!!!!
This could be a great present for Christmas :3
After all the American food for Thanksgiving I had serious Korean food cravings – so I made Paechu kimchi, kak dugi, oi kimchi, my own Kkaenip kimchi, and kkaenip changaji. Since my husband was on a business trip I stayed up late (5 AM) making Maangchi’s cucumber pickles, and hot pepper and garlic pickles in soy sauce. Chwi namul was next (I soaked it like crazy – kept changing water and getting sand!) And a huge pot of beef broth so I have soup ready to go in the freezer.
I used up a lot of my supplies – this basket looks great! Would love to try the Bbq sauces!
Wow~! This is so awesome! What a great opportunity!
Choose me please! Thanks for doing the giveaway. ^^
Would love to start cooking some Korean dishes for the holidays to help spruce up the usual holiday meal. Hwaiting~
Korean foods contain lots of ingredients.. Just the same as Indonesian food.. So much flavor and rich of details.. Hopefully I can win, learn more then I can share more right…^^
Yay!! These new products look so good!! I see floating sesame seeds in the bottle! Thank you CJ and Maangchi!! Happy holidays!!
I’m excited about your contest! Sadly, I can’t find hot pepper paste or soybean paste anywhere in my area…
I would like to use these ingredients to cook for Christmas.
Kamsahamnida, Maangchi for your wonderful recipes and videos!!!
As I was packing my doshirak for work tomorrow, it suddenly occurred to me how second-nature it has become for me to cook Korean food. It’s all thanks to you for demystifying the ingredients! I’ve found that if you have a rice cooker and kimchi, you’ll never go hungry!
Hi XD I’m Jasmine from Malaysia
I know you through Youtube. Your teachings are quite good and easy to follow.
Hope you will upload more of those cooking videos. I missed out your trip coming to Malaysia last time due to timetable crash, hope you will come soon again ><

Great giveaway! I’m keeping my fingers crossed :) I love Korean food!
I love Korean food but I’ve never cook it. I bought a couple of sauce (doenjang and bulgogi). I want to learn more about Korean cooking. If I win, that would be nice. I don’t know much about Korean cooking. Now that I found your website, I’ll be motivated to cook them. Thanks.

Hi, Maangchi. I’m a 23 year-old Korean American from North Carolina. I used to eat out a lot (a bad habit I developed during my college years) until I got this sudden craving for home-cooked Korean food. Last week was my first time grocery shopping at an Asian supermarket, and I’ve been cooking and eating Korean food ever since! Thanks to you, I have found confidence in cooking and hope to master my native cooking some day.
Dear Maangchi… your video have made my oversea study more interesting and fun. I hope i could get the full ingredient since it is not easy to find in uk. Thank you.
