Hello everybody!

Recently CJ Foods contacted me and offered to send me some Korean ingredients as a way of saying “thank you” for spreading Korean culture and cuisine. It was very kind of them to offer, but after talking to them some more, we decided it would be more fun to set up this giveaway for my readers. This is CJ’s way of encouraging you to cook Korean food, because they know that not everyone can find Korean ingredients easily.

So, leave a comment on this post, and you’ll be entered to win a Korean cooking startup kit from CJ.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZVGqgp5RZM

Please leave only one comment below, and then there will be 20 winners chosen at random by random.org. This contest is open to anyone in the world. Wherever you live, if you win then CJ will deliver this startup kit to your house.

Korean cooking startup kit

Korean cooking startup kit

The contest will close at midnight (New York time), December 15th and I’ll contact the winners through email. The winners need to answer me in 5 days, and if anyone doesn’t answer in time I’ll have to pick the next winner. So please, when you register for my website to leave a comment, make sure you use a current email! And be sure to check your email around that time!

The other cool thing about this startup kit is that a lot of the products in it are from CJ’s new Bibigo brand, which you’ll soon be able to buy outside of Korean grocery stores in the USA. I asked CJ about this, and they said Bibigo is just a new brand name for their Haechandle brand, which I have been using for decades and you may have seen in my ingredients section.

So, good luck to you! I hope you win!

Update Dec 23, 2011 – The contest is now closed, and the winners have been announced. Thank you for entering!

Tonight is my first attempt at cooking Korean. Already have beef marinating for my bulgogi. To top it off I am also making kimchi tonight….so I will see in a few days how that turns out. With multiple recipes on this site for the same dish I was able to customize my dishes on my very first try. Thank you — Kamsahamnida!!

I’ve been following you now since about 2006. My husband is Korean and I knew nothing about making Korean food (even though I loved eating it) when I married him while living in Korea. Your site has been heaven-sent for me. I’ve been able to learn so many Korean dishes because you have this site in English and you have videos to accompany your recipes. There are so many nuances to cooking Korean food that you can’t get from just reading a recipe. Since I don’t have a mother-in-law unfortunately to help me out, your videos have helped me tremendously. Thank you very much for thinking of this idea to make a website of your Korean cooking for people like me to use!

    Hello!!
As a college student during my spare time i love to cook!I love watching your youtube cooking channel and trying out new recipes~! ^^ Even though i am not Korean i love learning about the culture. I started off with food and dramas and then with learning the language. I dont speak it fluently but i am trying my best to get there. My interest to Korean culture has led me to study abroad, sadly i will be going back home really soon and back to my school. I live in LA but because i study in DC its hard to take anything like ingredients back to school with me and you know flying is not cheap. Its also hard to get the ingredients around DC if you dont know how to drive…and sadly i dont know how to drive >.< College life is hard but its always nice to have something delicious to eat during finals. :)

What can I say.. I guess many people (like me) first discovered korean food in.. korean dramas! I love how it never fails to look so mouth-watering and appetizing! Yummmm <3
It's very sad that there aren't that many places here where you can get korean food or the ingredients to cook the dishes yourself… *sigh*
I just found your site and I love already.. plus, I saw this and thought: Why not? Anything that gets me some korean cuisine kekeke

    Hwaiting!

    Anyoung!
I’m half Korean from my umma’s side and she has taught me to make lots of Korean food when I was younger. Now that I’m older, I watch Maangchi all the time and learn your recipes. I love to make new Korean recipes all the time but the ingredients are hard to get. The area I live in doesn’t have any Korean ingredients, so I have to travel far to get it. Anyhow, it is a great opportunity and I am very fortunate to have fallen upon your website. I guess I could say that I have learned lots about my half culture through you. Gamsahapmnida!

I frequent Korean restaurants with my friends.
We love Korean barbeque, soup, and even the cute little side dishes.
It’s a friend’s birthday yesterday. I asked: is there something special that you want to eat?
Guess what his answer is? Ddukbokkie!
I searched and searched… and now I’m here. And I’m very happy.
I guess I can satisfy his not-so-demanding birthday wish. :)

    Hello from Bulgaria.
Maybe you saw the post from my friend Sangun ( Presiyan ). We just came back from Korea as the winners of the Delicious Seoul Story competition. The final cooking was in the building of CJ … amazing place. I wanted to hide and never go out hahha.
I love Korean food. Korean food is one of the most healthy ones in the world. It is always pleasure for mouth and eyes.
I want to say think you for your amazing videos and your blog. I learned a lot for you and you really helped me get in love with korean food as well. ^^
It is really sad that we don’t have korean market in Bulgaria. The truth is we have to order everything from outside… but where is love there is a way :). So we always find a way to get ingredients for the korean food. Maybe we have to talk with CJ food to open store here *daydreaming*
anyway… it think my post is getting too long …
I wish luck to everyone ^^ Hope the winner will really enjoy all the amazing products ( and maybe I will be one of them :P )
and … thank you one more time
    Kris ~
