Hello everybody!
Recently CJ Foods contacted me and offered to send me some Korean ingredients as a way of saying “thank you” for spreading Korean culture and cuisine. It was very kind of them to offer, but after talking to them some more, we decided it would be more fun to set up this giveaway for my readers. This is CJ’s way of encouraging you to cook Korean food, because they know that not everyone can find Korean ingredients easily.
So, leave a comment on this post, and you’ll be entered to win a Korean cooking startup kit from CJ.
Please leave only one comment below, and then there will be 20 winners chosen at random by random.org. This contest is open to anyone in the world. Wherever you live, if you win then CJ will deliver this startup kit to your house.
The contest will close at midnight (New York time), December 15th and I’ll contact the winners through email. The winners need to answer me in 5 days, and if anyone doesn’t answer in time I’ll have to pick the next winner. So please, when you register for my website to leave a comment, make sure you use a current email! And be sure to check your email around that time!
The other cool thing about this startup kit is that a lot of the products in it are from CJ’s new Bibigo brand, which you’ll soon be able to buy outside of Korean grocery stores in the USA. I asked CJ about this, and they said Bibigo is just a new brand name for their Haechandle brand, which I have been using for decades and you may have seen in my ingredients section.
So, good luck to you! I hope you win!
Update Dec 23, 2011 – The contest is now closed, and the winners have been announced. Thank you for entering!

I’d love to win one of these cooking kits! I watch your videos all the time and have bookmarked many recipes to try. I think my favorite is Jap Chae, but they all look so good! I’d like to try making my own kim chi one of these days. Keep up the good work!
I really want to win this kit because since I was like 15 I started watching Korean dramas and fell in love with culture and I’ve always wanted to try Korean food or at least try to make Korean food, but because I live in Mexico I never find the ingredients that are needed because there are no Asian or Korean stores near
If I win this giveaway, it will be the best Christmas present ever!
I admire that you stay true with your cuisine and dedicate the website to Korean food. Keep it up, Maangchi
I recently found your Korean cooking videos and i’m totally addicted to them! Korean food is my favorite kind of food and I always wanted to know how to make all those beautiful dishes. I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to post all these videos. I would love a Korean food starter kit so I can make everything you post! Thanks again and happy cooking!! :)
I’m so glad I found your website! I’m half-Korean, and since I moved away from home, I’ve been craving Korean food. (It’s almost impossible to find here.) Beyond that, your blog has also allowed me to actively engage with a part of my heritage. So, thanks for everything.
I love all your recipes! I grew up eating a lot of Korean food and “Galbi Jjim” was always my favorite. I stumbled upon your site for this recipe and now I’m constantly trying out the others. I want cook all of them! I thought it would be impossible for me to make good Korean food, but you make it easy for me. Thank you for a great list of recipes!
I am proud to say that I have many Korean friends who are willing to teach me how to cook authentic Korean food – and those evenings are always fun. Still – good Korean ingredients are hard to find here, so the startup kit would be perfect!!!
I love CJ’s mandu :) but I haven’t had a chance to try anything else. Thanks for sharing! And thanks for this fantastic website!! :)
The selection of items looks great! I like the new name Bibigo too and it’s fun to say! Thanks for sharing!
I love watching your YouTube videos and have been following you! I’ve learn so much, and also how similar Korean dishes can be with my own culture. I first got fascinated with Korean Food when I first watch the Historical Korean Drama, Dae Jang Geum! The drama exposed me to so many different traditional Korean dishes and herbs. What fascinated me most about Korean dishes is that it is very natural, and when you eat any kind of dish, it gives you this warm fresh feeling. I am sure in the near future, there will be lots more exposure of Korean food internationally. Korean Drama’s have done lots, but I think you, Maangchi have done a lot. I hope I will be able to win the gift basket! Where I live, there is no Korean market, only Japanese and Chinese and they have very few Korean ingredients. So this “cooking startup” kit would be perfect!!
I grew up eating Korean food and learned quite a bit from my mother. When I was a teenager, the whole family went to Korea to visit and celebrate my halmonie’s 60th birthday. There were a lot of foods that I haven’t had since and have wanted to learn how to make so I could pass it on to my two daughters and I found quite a few of them here! Thank you for helping me pass on more of my heritage to my children!
I love korean food. I always wanted to make some but I can’t find hot pepper paste so it’s hard to make korean food without hot pepper paste. I would love to start cooking some korean food. Spicy foods are my favorite so that’s why i want hot pepper paste. My town is pretty small so there are no korean stores. Love your videos, you make me want to go to korea and eat all the food there. =)
It all started when I get addicted in watching Korean Drama. The Korean food and the way Koreans eat makes my mouth water every time. I would love to just go to a Korean restaurant and dig in. Too bad, here in Indonesia, Korean restaurants are both exclusive and expensive. Can’t often go and try all that’s in the menu. So, I decided to try and learn to cook Korean food myself. I browse Youtube and found Maangchi. The recipes are fantastic (although haven’t really try them all). I love the way she’s hosting her cooking shows. I fell in love to Korean food instantly. I would really like to keep on learning and trying out new recipes, but it’s kind of hard to find some of the ingredients used in Korean cooking here. I sometimes experiments and change unavailable ingredients with what I have at home. Would love to actually cook the recipe using the genuine Korean ingredients. Thank you Maangchi, for sharing so much fantastic recipes with us. You rule!
My first introduction to fresh Asian food was my coworkers at the military base’s child care center. Many were spouses of the military sothey were from all parts of the world. I was introduced to Korean Bagogi Ribs by a fellow military spouce. I was also introduced to the korean Pancake at a Food demostration at our military commissary. It is a premake package so I love the fact that you make yours from scratch. Very simple. I love Korean food. My sister-in-law is Tai and introduced me to the Asian markets, where I had felt very uncomfortable because I didn’t know what I was doing, before she went with me. The military commissaries carry alot of foreign products but nothing like an asian market. She also taught me how to make spring rolls rather than egg rolls, which always fell apart on me. I have found cooking with the different foods very exciting and adventures.
Last july my husband and i spent 2 weeks in korea after a year traveling around the world. Korea was our 30th country in 13 months. We had no plan to visit and wait as a last minute adventure. We fell in love with the country, the people, but most of all the food!!!!
We live in new york, and love eating korean food here, but it is so expensive. I am so glad i found your website so i can start making all of the foods that we have been missing.

Hello!
Thanks for all your awesome recipes. I haven only learned Japanese recipes up until a few days ago. I have never seen such detailed and extensively thought out korean recipes before. I really love them. I know the difference between home cooked meals and bought meals and hopefully one day, I’ll be able to make Korean food that might rival a halmoni :) Thanks alot :)
Thank you so much for all your recipes! I love Korean food and there is only a couple of Korean restaurants in my area. They recently opened a GMart, which is great but it is far from where I live. I love watching your videos and learning how to make my own Korean food. I have learned so much from you already! Every recipe always turns out excellent!

Oh my! All the things you can make with this kit! ;-)
I have learned so much from this website! Thank you Maangchi!
Whenever I think about Korean food, I’m reminded of my boyfriend (or Oppa), who introduced me to Korean cuisine. It’s what he feeds me, and he does a great job at keeping me full and loved…. If only I could do the same in return. So I would love to receive this package and learn to cook up a few of your recipes, which I know he will love!
i tried the kimmchee recipe and it rocked
I love your recipes even though I haven’t tried making any (yet). I am half Korean and I just eat at my mom’s when I want. I’m almost 30…time to start cooking for myself! ;)
This is an amazing idea. And thank-you so much for this website as a whole. I’ve found it very difficult to find resources on Korean cooking, and you seem to be my answer, It’s great. I can actually start cooking for myself at home now instead of visiting restaurants daily.
I would love to win this package!
There are so many great recipe’s that I have yet to try. My girlfriend is going to love my surprise birthday dinner using your recipes!
