Hello everybody!

Recently CJ Foods contacted me and offered to send me some Korean ingredients as a way of saying “thank you” for spreading Korean culture and cuisine. It was very kind of them to offer, but after talking to them some more, we decided it would be more fun to set up this giveaway for my readers. This is CJ’s way of encouraging you to cook Korean food, because they know that not everyone can find Korean ingredients easily.

So, leave a comment on this post, and you’ll be entered to win a Korean cooking startup kit from CJ.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZVGqgp5RZM

Please leave only one comment below, and then there will be 20 winners chosen at random by random.org. This contest is open to anyone in the world. Wherever you live, if you win then CJ will deliver this startup kit to your house.

Korean cooking startup kit

Korean cooking startup kit

The contest will close at midnight (New York time), December 15th and I’ll contact the winners through email. The winners need to answer me in 5 days, and if anyone doesn’t answer in time I’ll have to pick the next winner. So please, when you register for my website to leave a comment, make sure you use a current email! And be sure to check your email around that time!

The other cool thing about this startup kit is that a lot of the products in it are from CJ’s new Bibigo brand, which you’ll soon be able to buy outside of Korean grocery stores in the USA. I asked CJ about this, and they said Bibigo is just a new brand name for their Haechandle brand, which I have been using for decades and you may have seen in my ingredients section.

So, good luck to you! I hope you win!

Update Dec 23, 2011 – The contest is now closed, and the winners have been announced. Thank you for entering!

Hi maangchi!!! I made the easy kimchi recipe this past weekend. It is on its second day and it is looking fantastic. I will probably let it ferment for a week before putting it in the refrigerator. Thank you for this wonderful website. It has been a great help.

    Hey,
just by chance I recently found your website. I have always been interested in Asian cusine, though I mostly cook japanese recipes, because I used to travel there before. now, I want to expand my horizong a bit and try myself at Korean recipes as well. I haven’t accostumed to the taste of kimchi yet and the general spicyness of Korean food, so I hope I can adjust the recipes to my taste (my family isn’t too fond of too spicy food either).
I guess I will try making some of your recipes soon (except ddokbokki maybe, it sounds really really spicy haha). Thanks for doing the giveaway and wanting to provide people with such starter kits to begin their new ‘career’ as Korean recipe cookers!

    greetings

I know the winners are chosen at random, but I really hope I’m one of them! I go to college in a small town, we only have one Asian market, but it only has Chinese and Indian ingredients, no Korean :(
Thank you for doing this giveaway!
    감사합니다!!!

Annyong haseyo Maangchi! I’ve been watching a lot of your videos from YouTube and would like to make real Korean food in my home. Unfortunately grocery stores in Finland have very little Asian products to sell and the only places that sell real Korean ingredients are in the capital city. I’ve tried making some of your recipes (like ddukbokkie) and although they tasted really good, I know they would improve a lot using proper ingredients!

Even if I don’t win a kit, I’m so glad you make these videos! Without you, I would never have made any other Korean food beside kimchi ramen. So thank you! 감사합니다 !

    Hi Maangchi,

What can I say… I don’t cook very often, but when I see you cook I get hungry and go out to get some (korean) dinner! So it works in a way… ;) My initials are CJ, so how cool would that be to have my kitchen cupboard filled with koreanproducts with my own initials on it! :) I always dreamed to have my own productline… :) And after that maybe I start cooking… that would be also good, I think… what do you think?

    Take care Chul Joo

    Hi Maangchi
It would be an honer to win the start up kit from CJ. I just recently found your website trying to look for Korean food (Am Latin) And am just tired of the same old food that I eat, that my mom makes. So she told me that if I find the recipe and the ingredients she will make it, and I found your website that tells us how to make it. So then I find that your having a contest and I said to myself what are the odds? I would like for other family’s to try out different foods too because I know many family’s like mine who eat the same thing every day. I would like to share my experience with Korean food with all my friends and family. Your website is amazing!

Hello Maangchi. I found your website on youtube about 2years ago and started cooking Korean food since then. I’ve tried many recipes that you shared with us, like radish kimchi, cabbage kimchi, kimchi stew, bibimbap, japchae, ddukbokkie and some others. Kimchi stew is one of my favorite! Really happy to know about this competition and I even posted this on my facebook because some people that I know live in a small town, so they can’t find some of the ingredients easily and this startup kit would be great. Wish everyone good luck. :)

I’m happy I found your website because your recipes are easy to follow, and you always look happy in your videos, especially when you taste the food you cooked. :P Keep up the good work and thanks a lot for your hard work. :)
