This side dish is so delicious yet so easy to make. At the end , I added a little of gochujang for a little kick . Sweet , salty, and spicy , perfect combination!

Which to get? my first book has all the recipes for all the essential Korean pastes and sauces, but my second book Maangchi's Big Book of Korean Cooking has more recipes. Both are best sellers and either one is a good choice if you want to learn Korean home cooking.

This is one of my favorite side dishes. I’m glad I found this recipe because I had no idea where to stare. On my first trial, I used white granulated sugar and Maggie soy sauce. The flavor was different but since I’m use to this soy sauce, I ate it all anyway! I’ll have to try using the Koren soy sauce next time.
Do you think using corn syrup with change the flavor too? I ended up caramelizing the sugar first, which gave it a richer flavor.
