Kai - Exploring Korean cooking 024
I made my first bibimbap after watching Maangchi video. It is easy to make as long as you are organized. Mostly I was and when I wasn’t (forgot to soak the shitake mushrooms) Jamie Frater came with timely advice. I cooked the mushrooms in water for 20 minutes instead of soaking them. This worked well.

The highlight for me though was the gosari. I had never eaten it before. I thought it would taste similar to the indigenous piko piko & fern bracken and maybe parengo too that we Maori eat. It is quite different and I found it delicious. My husband ate two helpings and extra gosari. There was some left over and my sister tried it. She likes it as much as us! Kia ora – thank you Maangchi
