Hello everybody!

Recently CJ Foods contacted me and offered to send me some Korean ingredients as a way of saying “thank you” for spreading Korean culture and cuisine. It was very kind of them to offer, but after talking to them some more, we decided it would be more fun to set up this giveaway for my readers. This is CJ’s way of encouraging you to cook Korean food, because they know that not everyone can find Korean ingredients easily.

So, leave a comment on this post, and you’ll be entered to win a Korean cooking startup kit from CJ.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZVGqgp5RZM

Please leave only one comment below, and then there will be 20 winners chosen at random by random.org. This contest is open to anyone in the world. Wherever you live, if you win then CJ will deliver this startup kit to your house.

Korean cooking startup kit

Korean cooking startup kit

The contest will close at midnight (New York time), December 15th and I’ll contact the winners through email. The winners need to answer me in 5 days, and if anyone doesn’t answer in time I’ll have to pick the next winner. So please, when you register for my website to leave a comment, make sure you use a current email! And be sure to check your email around that time!

The other cool thing about this startup kit is that a lot of the products in it are from CJ’s new Bibigo brand, which you’ll soon be able to buy outside of Korean grocery stores in the USA. I asked CJ about this, and they said Bibigo is just a new brand name for their Haechandle brand, which I have been using for decades and you may have seen in my ingredients section.

So, good luck to you! I hope you win!

Update Dec 23, 2011 – The contest is now closed, and the winners have been announced. Thank you for entering!

Hey I’ve always loved Korean food, because when I was younger I was friends with a lot of Korean people. Since then I’ve been trying to re-create the flavours I used to experience. I’d really appreciate the ingredient kit – thank so much!

That’s a great idea and it’s very nice of CJ to sponsor this kit :) Where I live it’s impossible to get some of the ingredients (fish sauce for example). I hope I’ll win. If not – then congratulations to the lucky winner :)

Ps. I’ve already posted my comment twice – but it didn’t show up :( I even scanned through all the comments to find it. Well, I hope that third time’s the charm and that this time, this one will get published :)

I would love the chance to win this startup kit! I love reading and watching your recipes, but so far I’ve only been able to try a few of them out because I’m missing a lot of the key ingredients. So thank you Maangchi and CJ for this opportunity^^

Thank you so much, this is such a great opportunity for many of us! I know that I’m not the only one who has been watching your videos for a long time, but never had the chance to try anything for ourselves. There’s not even a Korean restaurant anywhere around here, and there’s almost no online shops who ships korean groceries anywhere but the country the shop is from.
    Best of luck to everyone!

    Dear Maangchi,

Thank you for your series of Korean recipe videos. I fell in love with the cuisine when I was stationed over in the 2nd Infantry Division back some twenty years ago.

Watching your videos have helped me recreate some of the dishes that I never got recipes for back then.

Since i’m half Asian, I’ve always been interested in Asian culture and cuisine. I’ve tried lots of different Asian cuisines available here in my country. Unfortunately, there is no restaurant over here that offers Korean food or any store that supplies with the Korean cooking ingredients. Winning this kit and watching your videos will definitely help me to try Korean food.

    Dear Maangchi,

Thank you for the evening at Susanne van Heijst’s home in October this year.
Amazing what good Korean Food can do… ! Very proud of being there, and grateful for the opportunity that was given to me.

I hope that more people can enjoy Korean food the Maangchi way.
But being Korean does not automatically means that you are able to cook Korean…
I’ll take my changes and leave a reply.

Promised, if I win this starter set, I will invite for al meals that I will cook from these ingredients, people that do not (yet) have met the Korean kitchen…! Spread the good news ;-)
