Recently CJ Foods contacted me and offered to send me some Korean ingredients as a way of saying “thank you” for spreading Korean culture and cuisine. It was very kind of them to offer, but after talking to them some more, we decided it would be more fun to set up this giveaway for my readers. This is CJ’s way of encouraging you to cook Korean food, because they know that not everyone can find Korean ingredients easily.
So, leave a comment on this post, and you’ll be entered to win a Korean cooking startup kit from CJ.
Please leave only one comment below, and then there will be 20 winners chosen at random by random.org. This contest is open to anyone in the world. Wherever you live, if you win then CJ will deliver this startup kit to your house.
The contest will close at midnight (New York time), December 15th and I’ll contact the winners through email. The winners need to answer me in 5 days, and if anyone doesn’t answer in time I’ll have to pick the next winner. The other cool thing about this startup kit is that a lot of the products in it are from CJ’s new Bibigo brand, which you’ll soon be able to buy outside of Korean grocery stores in the USA. I asked CJ about this, and they said Bibigo is just a new brand name for their Haechandle brand, which I have been using for decades and you may have seen in my ingredients section.

i love this website and is the source of my inspiration for cooking Korean food. I have a korean wife and live in New Zealand. Unfortunately, I am still learning how to speak Korean so until I can fully speak, I would like to develop my cooking skills more so I can cook, eat and drink with my Father in-law and Mother in-law. I love Korean food
My dream is to learn the Korean kitchen and when I’ll fly to Korea I want to take a cooking course in Seoul now I’m trying to learn in the recipes from your site but the problem in Israel there is perhaps one percent of the products needed for korean recipes
And web shop can not buy it then I would be very happy to get the ingredients to continue to prepare recipes korean
And give taste to friends and to publish more the Korean culture

Finding Maangchi’s site means I have already won. What great dishes. We are fortunate to have many great Korean restaurants around the South Puget Sound, but is very hard to find people willing to share how to cook them. Too many seem to assume you will not like the food. I have even had to argue to have some dishes served (such as raw meat / raw egg bulgogi.)
But winning this prize would be nice, too.

Wow, that kit looks really cool. I’m starting to cook Korean food more. My first attempt was bibimbap. It was a total success. I didn’t have much luck with pancakes on my first try, but I’m getting better! Your recipes are great.

Niiiice :D what a good initiative, I always have a hard time finding the right ingredients. Specially bean paste and hot chili paste! They don’t really sell that kind of stuff in the Danish supermarkets ;) hehe
