ooh, I missed you, hoddeok! : )

I craved hotteok the other day. I followed my own recipe to make sure I did the dough properly. It turned out fluffy. The filling is brown sugar, cinnamon powder, and chopped walnuts. I kept saying “mashitta mashitta” while eating my own hoddeok!  * mashitta means delicious! : ) The recipe is here!

Dakbokkeumtang (Spicy braised chicken)

Maangchi’s dakdoritang. One of the most comforting meals you can have on a cold depressing day. Had this with celery fried rice. www.peinichef.tumblr.com The recipe is here.

Mak kimchi, kkakdugi, lemon lime salt pickles

First batch of radish, second batch of kimchi. Lemons unrelated. Kimchi is so exciting and envigorating, even easy to make, its just chopping, mixing, packing.   I have dubujagajji and kimchee in my fridge. Both made from Maangchi’s recipes! I am a happy camper with these two treasures! The recipe is here.

Dubujagajji (Tofu pickles)

I made dubujagajji (tofu pickles)! They came out great, and they are delicious and juicy, just like Maangchi said. I added more shitake mushrooms because I like those pickled, too! Thank you Maangchi!!!! The recipe is here.

3 musketeers of a terrific combination of gastronomy!

My kkakdugi is well fermented so I made some soybean sprout soup to go with it. I added a generous amount of toasted sesame seed powder on top. Ahh!  These 3 musketeers are a terrific combination of gastronomy: rice, soybean sprout soup, and kkakdugi! : ) My Kongnamulguk (soybean sprout soup) recipe is here! If […]

Kimchijjigae (Kimchi stew)

Added 깍두기 to this too, along with an egg and diced carrots. Yummy! Thank you Maangchi for the recipe :) The recipe is here.

Chapssalddeok

Cocoa mochi with mung bean paste. I do have to improve on wrapping/closing off the bottom part of the mochi though. The recipe is here.

My Kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) is ready to eat!

This is my tip for everybody who wants  to mix their kkakdugi kimchi with the delicious kkakdugi juice in the jar! You don’t have to use a spoon to combine it all, just flip over the jar and wait for 10 seconds. All the radish cubes will get juicy!  Are you interested in making this? […]

Maangchi’s Kimchi Chigae

Had your kimchi jjigae for lunch today but instead of tofu I added an egg. Also added shirataki (which is a type of yam noodle from Japan) to it to make it a complete one-pot meal! Thank you for your delicious recipe! www.peinichef.tumblr.com The recipe is here.
