This is a steam bun (Bao) recipe that you can make my rolling out small disk, and folding the dough over itself with a metal stick or baking paper in between the middle! Like ... ( I ) <-- rolled out dough with stick in the middle.. then fold it over itself so it looks like ( I

lols! I hope my pictures helped. Here's my favorite bao recipe:

3 cups self-rising flour (Or use Flour+ a pinch of salt)
For white buns, use BLEACHED flour
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 cup milk

1.Warm milk, add sugar, oil
2.Combine Flour, baking powder, salt
3.Slowly add the Flour mix into the milk mixture
4. Knead for 5-8 mins
5.Rest for 1 hr
6. Punch down and shape dough into small circles, let rest for 15 mins
7. Roll out dough into disk, shape them and steam for 20 mins on high

I would like to make bao more like a flat bread so it can be served like a taco. To see an image of what I'm referring to please visit:

http://www.baohausnyc.com/catering.html

Do you think I should just try the steamed bun recipe, but form them flat before steaming?

http://www.maangchi.com/recipe/jjinppang-mandu

I'm new here, so forgive me if my terminology is incorrect.

^ they actually sell the molds at grocery stores - they have like two fish molds and its really small and perfect for home use.. try looking for them if you really want to make them. I saw some in Los Angeles Koreatown so theres bound to be some in a large supermarket in Korea. like Kim's mart or Lotte Mart.

Hi Maangchi, I havent been on your website for a long while,
I just recently moved to Korea with my Fiancee (now husband)
a couple months ago and was really busy.

So, all these wonderful Items will be easier to make, but I have a question.
Most 7/11's out here sell this type of steamed bun (similar to dimsum bread bun with pork in it) but instead of pork, there is red bean, pizza and others.
I now own a real korean rice cooker (Cuckoo) and I want to know how to make the steamed bun in a rice cooker,
do you know a recipe for these steamed buns??

If so, that would be awesome
