My first-ever bibimbap.

I decided to cook this at home because I heard from my friends that this dish was a hit in Korean restaurants. Even though there’s no available Kosari here, it tastes absolutely wonderful. One bowl is enough to make me full, even if you put in little rice. Good for those who are on diet […]

Doenjang jjigae (된장찌개)

My first attempt. Put it over rice and salad as suggested…so so tasty. The recipe is here.

Dubu buchim yamnyungjang

Korean recipes for the holidays

How about making some Korean food during the holidays? Some of my readers told me that they are planning Korean food parties during the upcoming holidays. I think it’s a great idea! These are my picks and suggestions for delicious Korean food that you can make over the holidays with your family!

Som tam (Thai papaya salad)

This recipe was provided by Tanja Rogers. I’m very excited to introduce you to one of Thailand’s national dishes, som tam (ส้มตำ). This recipe is very simple, authentic, and easy. The first destination on my Gapshida tour was to visit Tanja Rogers in Canterbury, England (read my blog about the trip here). She’s been one […]

Kimbap

Kimbap on the left with crab stick, fish cake, pickled radish, green onion & carrot; Onigiri on the right with kimchi; omelet rolled with nori in the back and other banchan The recipe is here.

Gyungdan

My first try at gyungdan. It was much harder to get even-sized balls, the right amount of filling and to seal them up than I imagined. I will keep on practicing and happily eat my ‘mistakes’. The red bean filling was delicious and I love the black sesame and roasted soy bean powder, but I […]

Kimchi chigae with tuna and left over pan fried tofu

My express lunch menu. With a bowl of rice n Korean sea weed.Yummyyyyy…. The recipe is here.

Craved for Some Maangchi’s Kimchi and Kaktugi

Made this hotter than normal as we love hot stuff. This was just made on 12/16/11 so now it will have to ferment for a few days. Don’t know if I can wait that long to eat it so I cheated a little bit. :D When I crave for kimchi, I visit Maangchi’s recipes. :) […]

(Manju) roasting on an (oven) fire

I didn’t have any sesame seeds but I just had to make these. They baked up lovely and crispy on the outside and the sweet lima bean paste inside stayed soft. Thanks Maangchi! The recipe is here.

Tteokbokki (Spicy rice cake)

It’s very delicious ! I love it so much ! Thanks Maangchi ! =X The recipe is here.

bibimbap

Always want to share some my cooking pictures. My first time to cook Bibimbap by myself. I used to eat it at restaurant but I think my Bibimbap is better. My roommate love it, too :) I added some more different vegetables in it and it was very good. The recipe is here.

Bibimbap ! I love it ! Thanks Maangchi ! =X

My Gapshida meetup and shoot in beautiful Singapore.

Bulgogi meal!

Please ignore time stamp, camera’s faulty. I made bulgogi with ssam jaang sauce, musaengchae and kimchi for banchan, steamed rice, and lots of veggies to dip in the ssam jaang! It was very fun explaining to my mom that Maangchi says to eat the bulgogi wrapped in lettuce with some sauce :) The recipe is […]
